Warwickshire Dogs Stand Up And Take a Bow Wow

Nominate your outstanding hound for Dogs Trust Honours 2010 -

Calling all dog lovers across Warwickshire! Do you own a gutsy Greyhound, a talented Terrier or a courageous Crossbreed? Now is your chance to give your favourite furry friend the recognition he or she deserves, as the UK’s largest dog welfare charity opens nominations for the Dogs Trust Honours 2010.

Following an extraordinary public response to the 2009 Dogs Trust Honours, the charity, which has a Rehoming Centre in Kenilworth, is preparing itself for an even greater flood of nominations from the people of Warwickshire.

The Dogs Trust Honours is a canine version of the Pride of Britain Awards. Culminating in a star-studded awards ceremony in London on 3rd June 2010, they will uncover the most amazing, heart warming stories from across the UK. All the winning dogs will have their paw-traits snapped by renowned photographer Dan Burn-Forti and displayed as part of a gallery exhibition on the night.

This year, those without a dog can take part too by nominating their favourite famous dog - from stars of the small screen to pop star’s pooches - for the Celebrity Canine award. Nominations for this and the other awards can be made online at www.dogstrusthonours.co.uk until midnight, 23 April 2010.

The categories are:

·         The Sun Hero Dog – the award for acts(s) of barksome bravery

·         Golden Oldie – the award for any special dog over 7 years old

·         Dogged Devotion – the award for dogs who provide emotional support

·         Celebrity Canine – for dogs in the public eye

·         Dog Star in the Making – the award for talented pet dogs

Dogs Trust Chief Executive, Clarissa Baldwin OBE, said:

“Whether you love Lurchers, or are simply dotty about Dalmatians, the one thing upon which all dog owners agree is that their dog is the greatest!  Our awards celebrate the very special things which dogs give us, and I don’t just mean the chewed slippers.  Let’s rejoice in all things canine and give these hirsute heroes the recognition they deserve.”

To nominate your dog go online at www.dogstrusthonours.co.uk or send your dog’s details, story and high res photo to awards@dogstrust.org.uk . You may also nominate via letter to Dogs Trust Honours, 17 Wakley Street, London EC1V 7RQ.

Unfortunately, we are unable to return photos and only the shortlisted nominees will be contacted.
