Snetterton, NorfolkDOGS TRUST IS GIVEN A CANINE CAMEO IN LOCAL WIZARD OF OZ PRODUCTION Homeless dog gets a taste of the limelight ![]() Disandat A rescue dog being cared for by Dogs Trust Snetterton has been given a starring role in a local Wizard of Oz production in a bid to find him a home. One year-old Terrier cross Disandat, who has no prior acting experience, is set to play the role of Toto alongside his co-stars CBeebies star Sarah-Jane Honeywell, Tracy Beaker star Dani Harmer and comedy legend Bobby Davro. The production of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ will take place from 10th to 11th April 2012 at The York Barbican. Kate Brewster, Dogs Trust Snetterton Supporter Relations Officer says: “Disandat is a very loving boy who is desperate to find his perfect home, so it’s all the more special that he’s been offered this cameo! He’s been with us at the centre since the beginning of March after being found as a stray and now and he’s desperately missing the comfort of a home environment. He’s a very energetic and friendly boy who loves playing fetch and giving kisses. We’re hoping that someone will spot his star talent and come forward. As Dorothy says in the Wizard of Oz ‘there’s no place like home!’” If you think you could lead Disandat along the yellow brick road into your home please call Dogs Trust Snetterton on 01953 498 377 or drop into the rehoming centre at North End Road, Snetterton, Norfolk, NR16 2LD. THIS HOUND IS A SIGHT FOR SORE EYES Dogs Trust Snetterton rehoming appeal ![]() With no sight in his left eye and very little in his right it is clear that racing is not for this greyhound. Arriving into Dogs Trust Snetterton in July and following his health checks it became apparent that Jack the Greyhound’s problems rested with his sight. With no treatment possible for this chap he is now looking for a new home away from the racetrack. But this sprightly three year-old is not letting a little thing like sight problems get in the way of having fun. After working out where the boundaries of the paddock are he loves to run around the Norfolk based rehoming centre and stretch his long legs. In the time he’s been at the rehoming centre some of Jack’s little traits have already become noticeable. One of the most obvious is his preference for walking on the left to take advantage of the remaining sight in his right eye and kindly saving his carer from bumping into him! Says Kate Brewster, Supporter Relations Officer at Dogs Trust Snetterton: “Jack is a handsome lad and has a very sweet nature, things that catch him unaware like unexpected movements or big cuddles can make him nervous, but with a little time and patience this will become a thing of the past. Jack is a typical Greyhound and, once he gets used to home comforts, would love nothing more than to settle down on a sofa or comfy chair for a snooze next to his new owner. With a love of food and hugs both will help this loveable fella settle in and become and fantastic companion.” Jack is looking for a home where life is predictable and where he can feel safe and secure in his surroundings without too many surprises. Due to his sight it is probably best for him to live with children over the age of 11 and possibly be the only pet in the home. To avoid your home turning into a race track cats and small furriers are a no-go for this ex-racer. Jack is currently staying at the centre with over 70 other dogs ranging from Huskys to Terriers, many of which joined in with the centre’s 10th birthday celebrations recently. If you think you would like to offer Jack or any of his other Dogs Trust friends a home please either pop into the centre or www.dogstrust.org.uk.
