Marley & Me (2008) Film

Review by Margaret Walton

'Marley and Me' is a true story about a young couple setting out on life's journey together. Having got married, settled into a new home and taken on new jobs, they then decide to get a puppy. Enter Marley, an adorable Labrador puppy, who from day one starts to rule their lives in a big way. Marley does everything little puppies do and more which drives them to distraction and beyond. Having gone through a very similar experience with a beagle puppy this film is truly believable. To say more about it would deprive the viewer of an absolutely wonderful dog story.

I would recommend this film to any young couple thinking of getting a dog for the first time, it reminded me of the absolute joy of welcoming a dog to become a treasured member of the family.

I had seen reviews about this film and had heard it was good but didn't expect it to be this good, a truly wonderful story. Credit must go to wonderful dogs who took part in the making of the film as well as Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston.

There are great 'outtakes' at the end and do have a box of tissues at the ready before you watch it.

Marley and Me won the ROM COM ROVER award at the 2009 Fido Awards for romantic comedy companionship.
