KenilworthPOUNDS FOR HOUNDS! Local lady recruits her canine companion as personal trainer and completes the Great North Run ![]() Helen Barlow and Martin Grinnel Helen Barlow, from Shipston-on-Stour, has completed the gruelling Great North Run in an impressive 2hours and 36 minutes raising £350 for Dogs Trust Kenilworth. Her efforts meant that for every minute she ran, enough money was raised to feed six dogs. Helen works at the Dogs Trust Kenilworth Rehoming Centre and was determined to raise pounds for her hounds by taking on the half marathon challenge. Helen Barlow, Dogs Trust Kenilworth supporter relations officer comments: “I am over the moon to have completed such a huge challenge to raise money for Dogs Trust. It was a hard run but I received lots of support and cheers from dog lovers in the crowd and in the race which kept me going! My own dog Diesel helped me train and got me out of the door when the rain was pouring and wind was howling. We trained together and I have him to thank for getting my fitness levels up!” Martin Grinnel, of Philip Tomlins Funeral Directors, Bengeworth, is a huge dog lover and was Helen’s biggest supporter, donating a generous sum to the cause. He adds: “Dogs Trust is a charity close to my heart and I wanted to support Helen whilst raising money to ensure the dogs receive lots of toys, blankets and treats whilst waiting for a new home.” Helen and her unique personal trainer Diesel, the Retriever cross, can now put their feet and paws up after completing one of the hardest sporting challenges this country offers. DOUBLE TROUBLE AT DOGS TRUST Dogs Trust’s Warwickshire Rehoming Centre appeals for homes for its inseparable pooch-pairs Dogs Trust Kenilworth is housing pairs of delightful doggy duos that have made friendships so firm they simply can’t be separated. The Rehoming Centre is hoping to win the hearts of Warwickshire locals who are looking to invite some double trouble into their homes! Dogs Trust Kenilworth Rehoming Centre manager Sandra Wilson says: “When inseparable pairs come into the centre we do everything we can to ensure they find a home together. Rehoming two dogs means double the responsibility but double the reward and these four pairs are no exception – they have a lot to give to you and each other. Owning two dogs also means they can keep each other entertained and can be left for a little longer than a lone dog.” ![]() Lexi and Logon Logan and Lexi are two eight year old Staffies who found themselves down and our when their owners’ marriage came to an end. Marco, seven, is particularly dependent on Bonnie, three, and they simply cannot be separated as they’ll miss each other terribly. The dogs love nothing more than crashing out on a cosy duvet together. ![]() Bluebell and Viscount Viscount and Bluebell are two four year old Beagles who came in after their owner sadly passed away.
