DJ David Hamilton
While attending the Wetnose Animal Awards on 3rd March, London Dog Forum was delighted to meet Max who had attended the ceremony with his owner DJ David Hamilton. Within in seconds of meeting this charming pair it was clear to see that David is totally besotted with his Gordon setter and one wonders who wears the dog collar in his house.
Most Gordon setter’s are black and tan but Max is a very unusual liver and tan. Originally Max was an army mascot dog until he left the regiment and went to live with David and his wife, Dreena.
David told me that Max’s claim to fame was his appearance on the television programme ‘It’s Me or the Dog’ with Victoria Sitwell. I looked vaguely puzzled and David said, “It’s a programme for naughty dogs,” and very quickly added, “of course Max isn’t naughty at all. He’s a very good boy but he had an obsession with light and reflections.”
David went on to explain that Max would chase any lights, or beams reflected from mirrors and would go almost demented at the sight of them. Unfortunately the response of the viewers rather defeated the object of the programme, for instead of wanting to learn more about curing this compulsive disorder in dogs, people wrote in to ask where they could get a liver and tan Gordon setter!
I have no doubt that David would have been happy talking to me for hours about his much loved dog but unfortunately we were being firmly ushered out of the venue and our conversation had to be cut short. However I sincerely hope we meet again as both David and his dog were a joy to be with.

I’d like to apologise to David for the poor quality of the photograph but my camera wasn't very well behaved that day. Usually it’s very good but, being a sensitive piece of equipment, it thought the flash might upset Max!
