Animal Boarding Establishments Act 1963
Any establishment where the boarding of animals is being carried out as a business is required to carry a license issued by the local authority. This includes private homes where a there is a business of providing accommodation for other people’s dog and cats. The license is granted at the discretion of the local authority taking into account the suitability of the accommodation, whether the animals are well fed and exercised and protected from disease and fire.
A person shall not be deemed as keeping a boarding establishment for simply providing accommodation for other people’s animals in connection with a business as long as the provision of such accommodation is not the main activity.
