Amberley - The Amberley Inn

Amberley, set in the heart of the Cotswolds, perches on the edge of Minchinhampton Common and overlooks the five valleys of Stroud in Gloucestershire.  Walk along Minchinhampton Common up to Rodborough Common and you will be treated with amazing views of the Severn valley, where on a clear day you can see across to Wales.  There is a plethora of country pubs in the surrounding areas and nearby Nailsworth boasts some fine restaurants. However, if you stay at the welcoming Amberley Inn you need go no further.  The Amberley Inn, attractively decorated with antique furniture and roaring open fires, has cosy bars serving local real ales , a quality restaurant serving a hearty breakfast, lunch and dinner and comfortable bedrooms with en suite facilities and fine views of the Cotswold countryside.  The hotel provides a packed lunch on request.

Nearby places of interest include Woodchester Mansion, Tetbury (for antiques), fashionable Cheltenham, the Docks and Cathedral at Gloucester, Westonbirt Arboritum, and the Slimbridge Wild Fowl Trust.  There are two 18 hole courses at the Minchinhampton Golf Club where The Amberley Inn residents can get reduced green fees.  Horse riding is available if you pre book. 
This is a great country retreat and a wonderful break to take with your dogs but beware, from May to October cows are free to graze on the Common, so if your dog is not used to these animals, keep them on a lead when near the herd and keep well away from cows with calves.  We recommend a torch at nightfall as you never know what you might tread in!
